Commonly known as mother-in-law’s tongue and Saint George’s sword, the Sansevieria Stuckyi is a type of snake plant. In the tropics, plant fibers are often used to make bowstrings. The practice has also earned the plant the nickname viper’s bowstring hemp.

The sap of the Sansevieria Stuckyi has been used as a base ingredient for natural medicines for centuries. It is commonly used in South Africa to treat ear infections. The plant releases oxygen at night purifies the air and aids deep sleep if placed in a bedroom.

Although it is a rare event, the Sansevieria Stuckyi can produce flowers under certain conditions. The plant features a central stalk, which can grow up to three feet high and is covered with small spikes. Tiny cream, greenish or white flowers grow along the stalk when the plant blooms.

The flowers of the Sansevieria Stuckyi are very fragrant and are full of sweet and sticky nectar. The blossoms open just after dark and close during the daytime. These blooms are very delicate and typically appear during the summer months when the plant is placed in a warm environment.
